Frisco Porcelain Veneers

You can have a complete smile makeover with porcelain veneers. These thin porcelain covers fit over your teeth and enhance your smile by masking any blemishes. Porcelain veneers are a great cosmetic dental treatment to take care of minor flaws without going through the expense of braces, crowns or other major dental work. Call us today to make an appointment with our Frisco dentist.

When teeth are discolored or mottled and whitening does nothing to even out the color or make them brighter, porcelain veneers offer a beautiful alternative. They can also be used to straighten minor misalignments of anterior teeth. Sometimes a person’s natural teeth may seem proportionately too short for their facial features. Porcelain veneers are often used to make teeth look longer, thus correcting any proportion flaws. They are also used to mask misshapen teeth and close small gaps between teeth.

Cosmetic Dental Veneers

Cosmetic dental veneers can be used to enhance the appearance of your smile. Made from porcelain, the shells are attached directly to your teeth. They are a permanent solution to whatever issue you are addressing. It is important to note that although they are permanent, dental veneers will need to be replaced after several years. When you choose porcelain veneers, you are making an investment in your teeth.

Issues Veneers Can Fix

Veneers are very versatile, and are used in cosmetic dentistry to treat a lot of different issues. They are commonly used to cover up stained teeth, to fill in gaps between the teeth, and to restore and cover up chipped, misshapen or uneven teeth.

Because the veneer “shell” covers up the entire front surface of your tooth, they will provide you with a beautiful and natural-looking smile, even if you have a lot of cosmetic problems with your teeth.

The Step-By-Step Veneer Placement Process

To begin the process, you’ll need to come to Parklane Family Dentistry for a quick consultation with Dr. Parul Vashisht. Dr. Vashisht will examine your mouth and discuss your cosmetic problems with your smile to ensure that veneers are right for you.

After you’re confirmed as a good candidate and agree to veneer treatment, it will take 2 additional appointments over a period of a few weeks to place your veneers.

At your first appointment, your teeth will be prepared for treatment. Dr. Vashisht will clean your teeth and numb your mouth for your comfort. Then, she will use a drill to remove some tooth enamel from each tooth that will be getting a veneer. This ensures there’s enough room in your mouth for your new veneers, and also helps the veneers bond and attach more tightly to your tooth structure.

After your teeth have been trimmed, Dr. Vashisht will take images and dental impressions of your mouth. These will be sent to a dental lab where your permanent veneers will be manufactured. This will take a few weeks, so Dr. Vashisht will attach a set of temporary veneers to your teeth to protect them, and you’ll be sent home.

Once your final set of veneers arrives at our office, you’ll be called back in for your final appointment. Dr. Vashisht will check the fit of each veneer, and attach the veneers to your teeth one-by-one using permanent dental cement. This completes the procedure.

Caring For Your Veneers – Our Recommendations

One of the best things about veneers is that you can treat them very similarly to your natural teeth. To keep your veneers and your teeth healthy, you should make sure you’re brushing twice a day for two minutes, flossing once a day, and maintaining a healthy diet. You should also see Dr. Vashisht every six months for a teeth cleaning and oral exam at Parklane Family Dentistry.

Beyond that, there are only a few other precautions you should take to keep your veneers in good shape. First, we recommend that you avoid biting or chewing very hard foods like nuts, popcorn kernels, or ice with your front teeth. This could break or dislodge your veneer, and even damage your natural tooth.

For the same reasons, you should not chew on any kind of non-food objects, including pencils, pens, fingernails, erasers, and so on. This will help prevent premature wear & tear and potential damage to your veneers.

Along the same lines, you should never use your teeth to do things like tear tape, open packages, to remove pen caps, or for any other purpose than eating and chewing. This can break your veneers or your natural teeth.

For the people who choose veneers, it is a great investment. Porcelain veneers can provide you with the perfect Hollywood smile without numerous dental visits, fuss or bother. If you are wondering how to get the great smile you imagine, then it may be time to make a call to Parklane Family Dentistry. We will help you achieve your best smile while making sure your oral health is maintained. Contact us today, and make an appointment to find out if you are a good candidate for dental veneers.
