Frisco Children’s Dentistry

Your child’s smile is incredibly precious. You want to do everything you can to keep that smile bright and healthy, and our Frisco dentist can help at Parklane Family Dentistry. We work with parents to ensure they are aware of the things they need to know to keep their child’s teeth in good shape. Call us to learn more!

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry sets guidelines for the optimal care of children’s teeth. They recommend that kids have their first dentist visit when the first tooth erupts, or at least by their first birthday. At Parklane Family Dentistry, we believe in helping parents learn how to properly care for those primary teeth.

Our staff is well equipped to interact with kids to keep them calm and relaxed for their visit to the dentist. The first visits are very important because they lay the foundation for how your child will feel about dental care services in the future. Early opportunities to visit the dentist in a non-threatening environment are helpful in preventing your child from developing anxiety and fear about the dental office.

We Love Your Kids!

We will make sure your child feels at ease at Parklane Family Dentistry. We take time to get to know our little patients, and we encourage questions and conversations about oral health. We enjoy teaching youngsters about taking care of their teeth and gums in a way they can easily understand.

Making the dental office an enjoyable place to visit is what we strive to do for our younger patients. This helps to create the foundation for a lifetime commitment to good oral health. We also want to make sure all your questions concerning your child’s oral health are answered. Parents often have questions regarding some aspect of their child’s dental development. We are here to answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to serving all your family members at Parklane Family Dentistry. For a relaxed and comfortable dental visit for your child, contact our office and make an appointment today.

Cleanings and Checkups

Routine dental visits are critical for protecting young smiles. At Parklane Family Dentistry, we make dental checkups relaxing and fun for kids. These visits allow us to ward off cavities and detect dental problems at their earliest, most treatable stage.

Dental X-rays

Your child may have a dental issue that is not visible to the naked eye or one that is occurring below the gum line. Our office uses advanced digital imaging to aid in the diagnostics and treatment of your child’s smile. Our dental x-rays are rated highly in superior safety and comfort.

Sealants

A simple and painless application of dental sealants can dramatically help protect your child’s smile from common tooth decay. Sealants are typically used on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. This is where tiny crevices and grooves can easily harbor food and plaque build-up.

Fluoride Treatments

Is your child getting enough fluoride? Since fluoride is proven to help strengthen and protect teeth, we offer fluoride treatments during routine dental visits for kids. Fluoride helps to remineralize the enamel of the teeth, which is a valued advantage for young smiles that are susceptible to dental damage caused by cavities.

Treatment of Early Childhood Cavities

While tooth decay can develop at any age, dental cavities are especially common in early childhood. At Parklane Family Dentistry, we always take a proactive approach when caring for your child’s smile. If small areas of decay are detected, we can provide prompt and effective treatment to restore their smile health.

Fillings

A dental filling is used to repair an area of decay (cavity) that has occurred on the outer layer of a tooth. At Parklane Family Dentistry, we offer safe, tooth-colored fillings for baby teeth and permanent teeth.

Pulpotomy

A pulpotomy, or pulp therapy, can be considered a “baby root canal.” We can perform a pulpotomy for pediatric patients who have a painful infection or disease in the inner pulp of a tooth. This straightforward procedure preserves the vitality of the diseased tooth until it is time for natural tooth loss.

Stainless Steel Crowns

When a child has completed a pulpotomy or has a deeper area of decay, we may suggest a stainless steel crown. Stainless steel is the material of choice when restoring a decayed or weakened baby molar and preventing further damage.

Space Maintainers

At Parklane Family Dentistry, we recognize the importance of not only caring for your child’s dental health, but also preparing them for orthodontic treatment when necessary. We are qualified to provide space maintainers for kids. These small rubber appliances are used to create better space between teeth that too close together.

Orthodontics

Teeth that are straight are not only more attractive, they are healthier as well. Parklane Family Dentistry is proud to make dental care more convenient by offering leading orthodontic treatment options for children and teens at our Little Elm office.

Educating Children and Parents on Dental Hygiene and Dietary Habits

A primary component of our approach to pediatric dental care involves education. We value the importance of teaching kids and parents about the strong relationship between dental health and overall health. We educate patients on proper dental care at home, which may include dietary habits as well as dental hygiene.

How We Make Your Kids Feel Comfortable

At Parklane Family Dentistry, your child’s comfort is our number one priority. We understand that trips to the dentist can be stressful and nerve-inducing. That’s why our office has been fully designed with patient comfort in mind. As a family-focused dental office, many of our amenities are targeted at children.

While adults often like to relax before a dental appointment, kids need to have something to do. Children often like to stay occupied while anticipating their appointment. Your child is free to grab a beverage from our beverage bar, watch Netflix on our TVs, play video games, or use our computers.

There is also a child’s play area where kids can play together. If your child is nervous about their appointment, we carry blankets and pillows to make them more comfortable while they watch a show or listen to music during their appointment. For young children, we recommend taking a tour of the office before their appointment to relieve stress and nerves.

If your child suffers from dental anxiety, we offer dental sedation to put them at ease. At Parklane Family Dentistry, we offer nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, which is a mild sedative that is safe for children. It causes feelings of relaxation, a sense of euphoria, and can sometimes cause giddiness.

Your child may or may not fall asleep during the procedure but they will be fully conscious and easily woken up. If they need to respond to the dentist or answer a question, they will be able to. An advantage of sedation is that it often causes anterograde amnesia, in which the patient is unable to remember the procedure once the sedative has worn off. Sedation is also beneficial for children with a sensitive gag reflex, low pain tolerance, or who are restless or uncooperative.
